“So, chosen by God for this new life of love, dress in the wardrobe God picked out for you: compassion, kindness, humility, and quiet strength, discipline. Be even-tempered, content with second place, quick to forgive an offense. Forgive as quickly and completely as the Master forgave you. And regardless of what else you put on, wear love. It’s your basic, all-purpose garment. Never be without it” – Colossians 3:12-14 (MSG).
Choosing love is hard, but when you do; it’s the best choice you could ever make.
When you are extremely nice to the other person and offer them help with something or invite to a dinner date; all you get back could be a turn down. Ouch! Yes, that hurts; especially when you have been on the right side. Again, what do you do? Love.
Don’t go overboard when people shut you down; just be nice, kind and welcoming. In your heart eliminate any offense they have caused. In the end of the day; people aren’t the ones that make your life better and the best. God does. A friend that needed all your help, now, maybe or completely ignores you. So what? Choose God’s grace and mercy. Don’t slack just because someone close is no longer closer. Life takes different turns with each of us; and God ends up showing us the weakness or the ingenuity of few people in our lives. That’s not for us to tag them with rude titles; but to just let it go in prayers. If people end up being very ungrateful towards the best that you have shown them; it’s alright. Yes, I mean all of these!
True, we all need friends; people; interactions; outings; acceptance; affection and above all a need to be considered. That’s God’s intention for you. He leads and inspires people to bring in these to your life. But if someone doesn’t yield and it doesn’t happen the way you presumed and wanted to happen;
- don’t be sad and dejected.
- don’t let that face be downcast.
- don’t go into the mode of where, ‘once in school, your friends planned it without you’.
- don’t feel like a scum.
- don’t be so drawn away with, “How could she/he do this?”
- don’t be so quick to mark a full stop.
Instead, consider where you have let that person be an idol in your life; ask God to forgive you and help you choose what He delights in. People will praise you in all those moments you have been useful to them; and suddenly they switch plates to say that you bore them to death. #laughs
That’s how it is; when you suddenly get occupied and probably think you can count on them; they seem to be done with you. Due to this very reason the Word (Bible) clearly notifies: don’t expect anything in return; instead be cheerful and generous with all your giving. God will not let you be in sorrow and hurt. All those will work together for good. He will uproot every ounce of wounds caused by people’s responses and behaviors; and replace it with His healing, blessings and love.
Always remember; it’s not the people who should sharpen your focus. It’s their Maker! When you are in love with their Maker; you cannot help but love them too.
When you delight in God’s desire of “Loving one another”; He will lavish you with the greatest desire of your heart. Above all, stay consistently grateful for the people that stick by you, love you, appreciate you and encourage you. Just for one or two people, don’t ignore the whole lots that will forever wish your best.
There is no shortcut to getting out of this pain; it’s a process. This process can be completed and you can regain your wholeness only in the presence of God. The more you keep taking it to God, you will be restored to the state where moments of rejection, intentional or unintentional; will not ache you anymore. How can you test it? You will be able to go up to the person with such confidence and love; and tightly hug them. #TheOnlyPassingMark. If that’s not possible; seek your Prime Mover (Yeshua Messiah). Don’t give up! Because love always resolves problems. You can’t afford to let all these hurts be buried under the carpet. One fine day, the carpet will be so dirty and will need a wash. When you lift it, you won’t be able to stand the stink underneath and will not survive with it till your carpet is cleaned and dried. Let a beautiful mantle be on the clean floor of your heart. Be quick to forget insignificant offenses, so that you have space and time to resolve other matters. Life is so much better when you don’t focus on the little things but rather look towards the bigger things, the better things that your Creator has in store for you!
