When troubles come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing. James 1:2b-4 (NLT)
The book of Job shows us how Job lost his wealth, children and health for no fault of his own. His friends were convinced that Job brought the suffering upon himself. His friends and wife told him to curse God and leave. But for Job, his great trial was not the loss or the pain or the sickness, it was the fact that he was not able to understand why God allowed him to suffer.
Suffering is not always a penalty of sin, prosperity is not always a reward for being good! Those who are suffering are not always because of the wrath of God. Bad things happen to us because we live in a fallen world where both believers and unbelievers are hit with the consequence of sin. God allows evil for a time although he turns it around for our good. The pain we experience may not make sense to us at that point in time, but it will enable us to rediscover and understand God’s purpose and calling in our life.
We believers are privileged because Romans 8:28 (NLT) says God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose.
The Bible speaks about how the Lord is placing us, his chosen ones as a foundation stone, a firm and tested stone a precious corner stone that is safe to build on, so that when we believe we will never be shaken.
So let us always be joyful. Never stop praying.
Being thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for us who belong to Christ Jesus.
