Well of Water
“Arise, lift up the lad and hold him with your hand, for I will make him a great nation.” Then God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water. And she went and filled the skin with water, and gave the lad a drink” – Genesis 21:18-19
Hagar was sent out of the house of Abraham and every resource she had gathered from there had worn off. There was no water and she was in the wilderness. She let Ishmael down and was totally broken. It says in the passage that God heard the voice of the lad and responded.
Ishmael was a seed of Abraham. That seed is powerful, and all of Heaven’s focus is on Him. Because of the boy crying out, God told Hagar to embrace and calm him down. The moment she did that, He opened her eyes and she saw a WELL of WATER, which signifies provision.
There are seeds in the Word of God we need to take hold of, even when everything is dry and hurtful. There are seeds we need to grasp, even when it seems a burden. Because, they are treasures and have a commanded blessing.
Rich provisions in our lives will be opened up only if we are ready to “take in arms” the Word of God. As long as we are disconnected and don’t realize what we have is BIG, we will be blinded to the wells of water around us. If God did this for Hagar who was outside the covenant, how much more will He do for you child of God; when you embrace His Word with all of your heart, soul, mind and strength.
This is why we need to be in a daily relationship with Christ! Reading His word so we can see all the wells!
