“Then you went over the Jordan and came to Jericho. And the men of Jericho fought against you— also the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Girgashites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites. But I delivered them into your hand.” Joshua 24:11
Throughout the verses from six to sixteen, Joshua highlights God’s reminder to the elders of Israel, of how they got delivered from their enemies to step into something greater. Not by their Might but by God fighting for them.
This was their position, this is what they enjoyed by having the Lord by their side. This is what they inherited for being committed to having Him as their ultimate focus.
“I have given you a land for which you did not labor, and cities which you did not build, and you dwell in them; you eat of the vineyards and olive groves which you did not plant.’” Joshua 24:13
The Old Testament painted the picture of abundance and grace way before the Cross happened. This shows that God, a Good Father, goes ahead of time and calls back those events’ implications to happen then, so that His chosen ones will be without lack. To all these the only part we play by surrendering to the Holy Spirit is:
““Now therefore, fear the LORD, serve Him in sincerity and in truth, and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the River and in Egypt. Serve the LORD!” Joshua 24:14
Throw away your narrow mindedness and doctrines that came through generations. Let the revelation of the Lord lead you. May you serve Him knowing that He is your ultimate reward and you have nothing to toil for. Work hard on seeking Him, studying His Word and putting them to actions. Then, you will see yourself enjoy benefits that you have never worked for.
