Sacrifice
“At each and every sunrise you will hear my voice as I prepare my sacrifice of prayer to you. Every morning I lay out the pieces of my life on the altar and wait for your fire to fall upon my heart.” Psalms 5:3

Prayer can be the hardest and one of the most non-desirable aspect for many of us. I find it very hard to pray. To wake up daily and wait on God to talk/ answer. I get very impatient at times thinking of the huge load, the to-do-list and also when can I get some more sleep.
All of these tend to take priority than a desire to shun their voices to hear the sweetest of all, talk to me. That’s why David calls prayer – a Sacrifice. We have to deliberately lay those pieces of reluctance at His altar. And, then we have to WAIT for those pieces to be lit by His fire, zeal and passion.
Don’t choose to skip prayer time because someone else’s experience of God showing up hasn’t been yours. When we diligently seek for Him, we will be Rewarded with His Presence.
The Israelites heard God as a thunder and were frightened. But, Moses,, when He climbed up the mountain heard the voice of gentleness, friendliness, love and mercy. May be we have to climb up our reluctance, laziness, ‘god may never talk to me’ attitude and beliefs.
Be assured, the One to whom you pray to, attentively listens to your voice. Little children have so much to say and talk to their mothers the moment they wake up. Let’s be child-like. Let’s be excited for this One and Only Lover who loves us with an everlasting love.
I’ve just started praying again – one of the things that I pray for is the fire of God to fall upon my heart….

I am so thankful that God always hears us when we pray.

I love that verse! And think I have skipped over it in the past. I believe prayer can be such a powerful experience, but it is such a hard thing to do at times with so many distractions. He is so faithful and patient with us. I appreciate your analogy of being like a child to a mother with so many things to say – may we be like that with our Father and have listening ears to what He wants to whisper to us!

I love your point about not skipping prayer because someone else’s experience of God hasn’t been yours. He interacts with each one of us personally and uniquely. It’s about getting to know Him and how He interacts with you.

I often find books of prayer helpful in formulating requests that I don’t quite know how to articulate. They can really deepen my prayer life.

Prayer is definite work for me. I want to grow in my prayer life. Our pastor is doing an 8 week series on the Lord’s prayer so we will be looking in depth at that.

Skipping prayer is like skipping the most nutritious thing for our soul. I love the scripture you shared and will be memorizing it. How beautiful are the words of God and connecting with Him is the most beautiful thing of all!

I have to agree that you won’t ever find time for prayer but have to make time for prayer.
