That Rebuke

“Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”” Luke‬ ‭18:38

When Bartimaeus heard that Jesus was coming his way, he cried louder the ever renowned words, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!””. Those who were in front REBUKED, DESPISED, SCOLDED him to keep quiet. Their demeaning looks should have shut him up. It should have told him, he’s unworthy. It should have got sense into his head that Jesus isn’t concerned . It should have made him understand that he’s a nuisance.

Oh yes! He got the point! But, today was different for him. He didn’t buy that to shut up. But, to shout even louder. Someone and something is asking you to shut up. You have no words to cry out anymore. Even this blind man was choked in dismissal. But, louder and louder he said, “Jesus, Son of David, have MERCY”.

Standing still, Jesus told the very ones who scolded him, to call him to the front. Wow! Where they spoke without compassion, now they had to show mercy – the Wonderful One stopped on his call for Him.

When Jesus stops for you, everything that wanted to silence you from hope, seeking His help, trusting Him and believing again will have to come and show you favor. If the blind man’s cry was heard, what makes you think yours won’t be heard? The blindness that stops you from seeing what you have in Jesus is about to shun. When everything in you, calls out “JESUS”, there is a stillness and awe displayed for your miracle to release.

  1. Jesus shows compassion and mercy to those that the world thinks are pieces of trash. It’s so sad that God’s people don’t love and lift up those who are suffering but tell them to shut up. I’ve seen this so many times that it’s making me furious.
