“Therefore submit to God. But resist the devil and he will flee from you.” James 4:7
It’s only a genuine submission to the Lordship of Christ, which will equip us to resist the devil.
There are words of people, which they seriously or jokingly say. We may laugh or ignore it then. But later it starts playing in our heads and we would conclude it as an offense, insult, toxicity or betrayal. Those words start to affect us, it derails our energy and resists us to fly.
The verse doesn’t say, resist the devil and then submit to God. We can never resist the effect of evil around, without appeasing to God’s grace, command, love and mercy.
Our willingness to yield comes when our affections are aligned to God’s. When our affections are sealed with the blood of Jesus, we submit and we soar above the resistance of every storm that comes our way.
When our submission to Jesus resists the enemy, he cannot stand a moment more against us, but scoot.
“And the shalom of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Messiah Yeshua.” Philippians 4:7
